LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation is pleased to announce that its Lincoln, Nebraska, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facility has received Honeywell Aerospace Heavy Maintenance Authorization for the RE100 APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) series. This authorization allows Duncan Aviation to perform extensive in-house overhauls and complex repairs on the RE100LJ, RE100XL, and RE100CS models.

These RE100 models are a staple powering several of the industry’s most popular airframes, including the Learjet 45 and 75, the Citation 560XL/XLS and Sovereign, and the Citation Latitude. These are aircraft Duncan Aviation sees in its hangars every day. Securing this authorization aligns with its decades of airframe expertise and authorized, heavy-level engine and APU support.

A One-Stop Shop Experience

In-house RE100 APU overhaul capabilities will come online in early 2027 and will be integrated into the company’s Honeywell Aerospace Engine Overhaul Shop and managed by the experienced Engine Program Manager, Shawn Schmitz. This move ensures that the same level of precision and quality Duncan Aviation is known for in engine maintenance is applied to the APU sector.

“Our customers already trust us with their aircraft and engines every day; this adds to that one-stop-shop experience for all things engine and APU,” says Brad Wales, Duncan Aviation Engine Manager. “By bringing this heavy work in-house, we are providing our customers with the same quality and care they have come to expect from Duncan Aviation, while delivering a more seamless, end-to-end service experience.”

Performing heavy APU work alongside scheduled airframe and engine inspections eliminates the need to ship units to outside facilities, streamlining the maintenance experience for customers by reducing downtime. They also benefit from a unified team of engine experts managing the entire workscope.

Strategic Investment & Infrastructure

To support this new capability, Duncan Aviation is making a significant capital investment in specialized tooling and infrastructure. Central to this expansion is the upcoming installation of a state-of-the-art modular testing facility from Staley Co. (Model D39379). This climate-controlled, soundproof cell features advanced PLC monitoring equipment to ensure every unit meets rigorous performance standards before returning to service.

Duncan Aviation has 38 engine technicians who have completed factory-specific training for the RE100 series. This investment in both people and technology positions the company for long-term success in the APU market.

Duncan Aviation’s two other full-service MRO locations in Battle Creek, MI, and Provo, UT, maintain Line and routine maintenance authorizations for these units.
