Bombardier Rolls Out Advanced Avionics Upgrade for Global 5X00/6X00 Aircraft
January 2025
Bombardier has issued two optional SBs (Service Bulletins) to upgrade the flight deck software on Global 5X00 (700-34-5030) and 6X00 (SB 700-34-6030) series aircraft, introducing Vision Flight Deck version 5.8. This AAU (advanced avionics update) offers features to enhance safety, operational efficiency, and cockpit performance. It integrates forward-fit technology, delivering improvements in situational awareness, optimized cockpit displays, and overall system performance for in-service aircraft.
Highlights Of Baseline Upgrade:
- EICAS (Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System): improved message logic, providing pilots with clearer and more intuitive alerts.
- IFIS (Integrated Flight Information System): optimized for better synchronization between applications, ensuring smooth and consistent data presentation, particularly for graphical weather overlays.
- EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System): Updated to improve HUD (Head-Up Display) and PFD (Primary Flight Display) Logic, including improved SVS (Synthetic Vision System) performance.
- Control Tuning Panel: Improved default settings and expanded functionality of SELCAL (Selective Calling) changes.
- Onboard Maintenance System: Improved maintenance troubleshooting with expanded memory.
Pre-Requisite Avionics Configuration:
- SB 700-34-6508, 700-34-5508 FMS database update and MMO expansion to Mach 0.9 (effectivity: 9861, 9872, and 60001 to 60032)
- SB 700-46-6007, 700-46-5007 Implementation of GVFD software version 5.1
- SB 700-34-6018, 700-34-5018 Implementation of ADS-B Out & ATN CPDLC capability (Link 2000+)
Note: APM files must be updated via SRPSA process during the upgrade installation
Optional Enhancements
- ADS-B In / CDTI enhances pilot awareness by providing real-time information on surrounding aircraft, aiding separation in the air and on the ground.
- CVS (Combined Vision System): Integrates EVS (Enhanced Vision System) and SVS (Synthetic Vision System) into a single display, reducing pilot workload and improving situational awareness, particularly in adverse weather.
- Airport Moving Map & SVS Taxi Mode: Offers detailed visuals of airport infrastructure and the aircraft's position during taxi, enhancing safety and navigation during low-visibility ground operations.
- Predictive Windshear & Vertical Weather: Utilizes upgraded weather radar to detect windshear and provide a vertical profile of weather systems, allowing for better turbulence avoidance.
- SXM Weather Receiver: Replaces the XM receiver with a new SiriusXM system, offering real-time weather updates across the U.S. for better flight planning and in-flight weather management.
These Optional SBs 700-34-6030 and 700-34-5030 require a sufficient lead time to produce and configure the software for each specific aircraft. Order now to ensure it is ready for your future maintenance event.
