In-House Capabilities & Specialized Services

We've invested in advanced machinery to bolster our in-house capabilities, which translates to unmatched value, quality, and faster turnaround times. By performing these services in-house, we retain greater control over engine specifications, repair costs, and downtime.

Nondestructive Testing (NDT)

Our NDT services include fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, and eddy current inspections. We utilize an ETC2000 Jet Engine Eddy Current Scanning System, which is fully automated for HP rotors and fan discs. Our NDT services are Honeywell-authorized to perform the required eddy current inspections for heavy maintenance events.

Precision Grinding and Measurement

For overhauls and hot section inspections, we use a pair of specialized grinders—a Palmary VIG 80 Shroud Grinder and a Universal Cylindrical Grinder—that work in harmony to precisely grind the inner and outer dimensions of critical components. Every measurement is confirmed by our Zeiss Contura CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), an advanced system that measures complex angles and contoured shapes to ensure all repaired parts meet stringent OEM specifications.

In-House Repairs

Our in-house repair capabilities allow us to restore parts that would otherwise fail inspection. This includes:

  • Thermal Spray: The new Metco 9M high-energy plasma system is a fully automated flame spray booth that adds material to components, allowing for in-house repairs instead of costly replacements.
  • Shot Peening: Two fully robotic, programmable Wheel Abrator Peening Cabinets provide stress relief after grinding repairs by removing damage from critical rotating components like compressor blades, impellers, and turbine disks.
  • Wet Blast: Our wet blast media cabinet effectively removes corrosion from component surfaces, which is vital for parts like the Accessory Gearbox and oil pump gear systems.

These comprehensive capabilities save you time and money by repairing components instead of replacing them, often reducing costs by more than 50% while maintaining superior quality control.

A Dedicated Team

At Duncan Aviation, we believe a dedicated team approach provides the best results.

Skilled Turbine Engine Technicians

Unlike an assembly line approach, we assign a team of skilled technicians to your engine. This personalized approach gives us better control over the fine-tuning of engine tolerances and other unique details, which directly impacts the quality of your engine's performance.

Technical Experts

Our teams include Engine Tech Reps, Technical Sales Reps, and Engine Program Engineers. These experts provide technical advice, offer accurate quotes based on years of hands-on experience, and consult with our technicians to ensure each engine hits its performance parameters.

Project Management

A dedicated Project Manager is assigned to each engine project to provide a single point of contact and coordinate the project from beginning to end. Your Project Manager leads a team of experts in a detailed preplanning process, ensuring everyone understands the work scope and is aligned on benchmarks for success.
