LINCOLN, NEB — In a year most of us won’t soon forget, Duncan Aviation is pleased to have kept its hangar doors open and proud that its team members have continued to offer customers an experience, unlike any other. With help from the capable avionics crew at the Duncan Aviation Satellite Shop in Houston, Texas, a long-time customer now has the additional features offered by the Garmin G1000 NXi retrofit.
The new flight deck incorporates two large 10.4-inch primary flight displays with synthetic vision and a 15-inch multifunction display that includes digital engine gauges, moving map, traffic, weather and other important fight-related data. The Garmin 1000 NXi exceeds the required FAA intiatives for Automatic Dependent Surveilance-Broadcast (ADS-B) and enables Wide Area Augmentation System Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance (WAAS LPV) approaches at most business aviation airports in the United States.
“The installation was dynamic as we removed the aging system from the cockpit and installed the Garmin G1000 NXi, which has many additional features and is lighter weight than the previous system,” says Duncan Aviation’s Houston, Texas, Satellite Manager Mark Winter. “We also integrated an Automatic Direction Finder (ADF) and High Frequency (HF) communications system, which added an enjoyably complex challenge to the installation!”
The workscope on this installation was a little larger than most Garmin G1000 NXi installations, and the team pulled in specialists from the St. Louis, Missouri, Satellite Shop and the Lincoln, Nebraska, full-service Duncan Aviation facility.
“That’s one enormous benefit we offer our customers: We provide full-support of the system after installation from any of our Satellite Shops located at business aviation airports around the United States and any of our three full-service facilities in Battle Creek, Michigan, Provo, Utah and Lincoln,” says Winter.
